HTC Desire 826 Dual Sim- A Good Phone, Still Not Desirable
The so called successor of HTC Desire 820 the HTC Desire 826 DS is recently launched in India with a price tag of Rs 25,999/-.
From the past 2 months the smartphone was listed as coming soon on HTC India official website.
The form factor of phone is similar to that of HTC Desire 820 but the colour options available are much better with a rubberised finish on back panel which makes the overall feel of the phone quite premium and also easy to hold.
Earlier the Taiwanese giant unveiled HTC Desire 820s the mediatek version of the Desire 820 trying to tighten it's grip in the mid-segment.
Design
In many aspects the phone looks similar to the HTC Desire 820. The Desire 820 had glossy back panel while Desire 826 is having rubberised back panel for better grip.
The dimensions of phone are 158*77.5*7.99 mm and it weights about 183 g. At 7.99 mm it's not among the thinnest but is good enough.
The front camera is placed in middle of the top of the phone which is advantageous while taking selfies. Just beside the front camera there is a proximity sensor and a LED notification light.
The back panel of the phone is non removable. Sim card and microsd card can be inserted by opening the flap on the left side of the phone. The front side of the phone is also having Boomsound speakers which are quite not visible.
Although the phone is made of plastic the overall feel of the phone is quite good and feels sturdy.
Display
Unlike HTC Desire 820, Desire 826 is having a 5.5 inch 1920*1080 Full HD display with pixel density of around 401ppi.
The viewing angles of the phone are great and the display is protected by Corning Gorilla glass 3.
Hardware
The phone boasts Qualcomm's latest 64 bit Snapdragon 615 chipset along with 2 GB Ram and 16 GB inbuilt storage. The phone is powered by 2600mAh battery which gives you enough juice for around 1 day on moderate usage. The phone is having 13mp primary which is capable of shooting 1080p videos, and 13 mp wide angle secondary camera for group selfies. The secondary camera is also capable of shooting 1080p videos. Although 13mp secondary camera in only provided in Indian version (Ultrapixel secondary camera on other version). The phone supports dual nano sim cards but 4G LTE is supported only on one sim card and the other only supports GSM. Memory can be expanded to 128 GB using microsd card.
The phone comes with a lots of editing features for selfie addicts. Although the rear camera performance is not up to the mark.
The phone is having HTC Boomsound with Dolby Digital and sound quality on headphones is top notch.
The Antutu benchmark score of phone comes around 35000 which is decent score but is significantly low if compared to Huawei Honor 6 plus which comes under the same price bracket.
Software
The phone comes with Android Lollipop 5.0.2 out-of-box with Sense 6 on top of it. The Sense UI is one of the best UI present in the market after stock android UI.
The touch works perfectly and is butter smooth.
Conclusion
HTC Desire 826 is quite good when it comes to performance but again HTC failed to price it correctly. The phone would have been a steal if priced around 19k,
but as we all know it's the department in which HTC has always lagged. You should go for HTC Desire 826 if you are a huge HTC fan or if you want to go after branding, other alternatives are also present and Huawei Honor 6 Plus is one of them.
